A Village of Wurzels (Llanishen Style)

On the 27th of September we had our first (hopefully not last) Apple Pressing Day

📅 Date: 27th March 🕕 Time: All Day 🏠 Location: LVH

On the 27th of September we had the inaugural Apple Pressing Day at the Village Hall. It was a wonderful celebration of autumn and community spirit. Families and neighbours gathered throughout the morning, baskets and bags brimming with apples from gardens and orchards around the village. The hall was filled with the sweet, crisp scent of freshly pressed fruit as volunteers worked the presses and shared tips on blending different varieties for the best flavour.

Everyone loved watching the transformation from apple to juice, and many (even Dave) took turns helping to turn the handle of the old-fashioned press. Bottles and jugs quickly filled with golden, cloudy apple juice – fresh, tangy, and utterly delicious. The juice was destined for cider making, promising a taste of autumn to be enjoyed later in the year.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part, brought apples, helped with the pressing, or simply came along to share in the fun. It was a fantastic day of teamwork, laughter, and plenty of fruit juice and cider. Here’s to next year’s harvest – and another successful pressing day!

Many thanks to John for organising and to Joe and Emily for the loan of the press

I believe John still has some professionally pressed and pasteurised bottles available so have a word if you want some
