Llanishen Art Club runs on Wednesdays 5–6pm and Thursdays 4–5pm, in 5-week blocks each half term. Children are welcome from age 5, and many continue with us into their secondary school years. For more information, email Llanishen Art Club.

Established over 30 years ago in the old village hall, Llanishen Art Club has long provided children in the community with the chance to explore their creativity while learning about art in historical and cultural contexts. Sessions include painting, drawing and working with clay, using a wide range of techniques and materials..

Clay is a key part of the programme. Children learn hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab building and sculpture, as well as joining, decorating and firing their work in the hall’s kiln, allowing them to experience the transformation from soft clay to finished ceramics..

We also explore watercolours, acrylics, inks, charcoal, chalks and pastels, inspired by thework of artists. Children’s artwork is displayed in the art room and celebrated in an end-of-term exhibition, giving them a strong sense of pride and achievement. In a time when creative opportunities in schools are increasingly limited, the club offers a supportive space for children of all ages to create, express themselves and learn from one another.
